Teaching Fellow Alum Spotlight: Jaila Mason
Jaila Mason, one of Breakthrough Atlanta’s former teaching fellows, had an entirely different career path planned until she experienced a breakthrough. She was pursuing a career in medicine, but after spending the last two summers as a teaching fellow, she entered the teaching profession instead. This fall she became a first grade teacher and has plans to eventually pursue a Masters of Arts in Teaching.
“From the beginning, I knew this program was for me, but I never could’ve imagined what an impact it would have on me as a person, as a student, and as an educator,” Jaila said.
“Breakthrough taught me how to teach, how to plan, how to work as a team, how to be a leader, how to build strong connections, how to have many good days, and how to move forward in those tough days.”
Hear more from Jaila on what breaking through means to her, and the significance of her Breakthrough Atlanta experience.
