Teaching Fellow Spotlight: Lee Perryman
Lee Perryman attends Kennesaw State University, where he is majoring in K-5 Early Education. His passion to serve at Breakthrough is reflected in his favorite quote from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.: “Everyone can be great because everyone can serve.”
As a ninth grade math teaching fellow in 2020, Mr. Perryman helped Breakthrough Atlanta students learn critical math skills to prepare them for success in high school.
In turn, he learned about teaching, classroom management, lesson planning, and much more from our experienced instructional coaches.
“It was a phenomenal experience,” said Mr. Perryman. “The connections and experience can only be described as an asset! There’s no way you cannot come out a better person.”
Like many of our Breakthrough students, Mr. Perryman is the first in his family to attend college. Breakthrough teaching fellows serve as relatable near-peer mentors for our students, inspiring a passion for learning and a desire to attend college.
