Year-round program equips students for academic success and paves the way for future college enrollment
The application period is open through April 16 for Breakthrough Atlanta’s High School Readiness Program set to begin in summer 2025. Starting in middle school and lasting six years, the program charts middle and high school students on course to earn a four-year degree while focusing on social, academic, and personal excellence in middle and high school. Operating year-round, the tuition-free program enrolls students in school districts throughout the metro Atlanta area.

Breakthrough Atlanta students are twice as likely to start and graduate from college than other Georgia high school graduates. By working with students and families for six years, we’re laying the foundation for lifelong achievement.”
Students going into seventh, eighth, and ninth grades during the 2025-2026 school year are encouraged to apply for the High School Readiness Program.
The first opportunity for students to begin the program is the summer before their seventh-grade year. For three summers, students attend Breakthrough’s fun and challenging six-week Summer Program, which includes:
- English Language Arts, math, science and STEM core classes to help students where they may be struggling, and to preview content for the upcoming school year.
- Creative electives in areas such as photography, coding, public speaking, sports and more.
During the school year, students attend Super Saturdays where they:
- Explore the non-academic skills they will need to achieve their college and career goals through interactive activities and field trips.
- Develop the critical thinking skills and maturity to make wise choices about school and life through sessions that include, for example, personality and learning styles, personal values, goal setting, study habits, and more.
