Recently, Breakthrough Atlanta CEO, Monique Shields, sat down with “Word on the Street,” a new show hosted by Gianna Willcox on Cumulus Media. Monique spoke about Breakthrough’s work, explaining on air that:
In a nutshell, Breakthrough Atlanta helps middle and high school students get into and succeed in college – and we prepare college students for careers in education. We have been here in the Atlanta community, housed at the Lovett School since 1996, and we’re part of a national movement called the Breakthrough Collaborative. Here in Atlanta each year, we serve about 500 middle and high school students and 60 college students. We have a really great track record: our students are graduating college at twice the rate of other Georgia students and three fourths of our college students pursue careers in education. We’re really proud of what we do.
