Every year, high school seniors across the country navigate the process of filling out their FAFSA form. FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid and is the form that helps colleges and states determine the amount of funding an individual applicant is eligible to receive in grants, scholarships, and loans. As a benefit to students in our Breakthrough Atlanta programming, we partner with the Scholarship Academy to offer one-on-one advising to help with the process.

Breakthrough Atlanta seniors can register for virtual office hours at https://virtualscholarshipcenter.com/app/voh. Members of the Scholarship Academy team are available Tuesdays through Thursdays from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. Seniors can get assistance with college-related tasks such as scholarship research, FAFSA submission support, college funding planning, and scholarship essay writing.

The FAFSA form should be completed by any student, regardless of income, who wants to be considered for federal, state, and school financial aid programs. This includes scholarships, grants, loans, and work-study funds.

While the form can take less than an hour to complete, it can be helpful to have an experienced advisor to turn to with questions. All Breakthrough seniors are encouraged to take advantage of this free resource!
