As our summer programming comes to a close and we celebrate our 2025 graduating seniors, we are taking a moment to reflect on the adaptations we had to overcome this season. With federal funding cuts to AmeriCorps announced just before the launch of our summer programming, we had to make the hard decisions to cut our curriculum by a week and to notify Teaching Fellows of their loss of stipend money and change in hiring status. We are still determining whether we will be able to enroll the newest class of 7th graders into our multi-year programming beginning this next school year.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution followed this news and sent a reporter and photographer out for our annual Scholar Send-Off celebration and to interview staff and seniors. The article highlighted students’ journeys and their college destinations as well as the support they – and their families – received through Breakthrough Atlanta.
