Teaching Fellow Spotlight: Brianna Brown

Brianna Brown graduated from the University of Alabama, where she majored in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.

Ms. Brown participated in Breakthrough’s Teaching Fellowship program in 2019 and returned for a second year in 2020. Under the guidance of professional mentor teachers, she learned about teaching, classroom management, lesson planning, and much more. In turn, she became a mentor for her students, showing them that college is within reach.

As a middle school English Language Arts teaching fellow, Ms. Brown helped Breakthrough students build critical reading and writing skills.

Breakthrough Teaching Fellowship experience is designed for college students of all majors.

“No matter whether you plan to be in education or not, it’s an experience everyone can benefit from because of the growth you experience,” she said.

Brianna is now a third grade teacher with Gwinnett County Public Schools
